Renowned art director K Shekhar passes away at 72

Renowned art director K Shekhar passed away at a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram. He was 72 years old.

Shekhar started his career in cinema as a costume designer in the first 70 mm film in Malayalam, Padayottam, which was released in 1982 under the direction of Jijo Punnoos.

He was the art director of India’s first 3D film, My Dear Kuttichathan. The rotating room in the song ‘Aalipazham Perukkam’ was designed by Shekhar.

He has worked in many films, including Nokathdoorath Kannum Nattu, Chanakyan, and Onotu Poojyamvara. He was the art director of Fazil’s films Nokketha Doorath Kannumnattu and Ono To Poojyam Vare.
